There are many beautiful, historic homes as well as commercial buildings in Austin, Texas in Travis County. Some Austin Historic Homes have been restored by historic restoration architects and decorated by historic home interior design experts. Here is an alphabetical list of some of the Austin Texas neighborhoods with Historic Homes as well as other Texas towns big and small that have historic homes. Some of the smaller towns may just have 1 or 2 but some towns always have several.

Bryker Woods is a historic home neighborhood in Central Austin TX located right off of MoPac and 35th. I grew up going with my parents to my Mom’s dear friends home in Bryker Woods, Doris Smith. Fredericksburg 78624

Hyde Park is a very popular historic Austin TX neighborhood in Central Austin. There is a fair amount of new construction too. Streets in Hyde Park include Avenue H and other alphabet named streets as well as numeric names.
Judges Hill
Judges Hill is a Central Austin TX historic neighborhood within walking distance of UT. The first home was built in the neighborhood of Judges Hill in 1851 by Elijah Sterling Clack Robertson. Judges Hill Architectural styles include Arts and Crafts and others. Judges Hill streets include West 16th street, West 18th Street, Pearl Street and others. Children living in Judges Hill attend Bryker Woods Elementary, O Henry Middle School and Austin High School or one of the many available private schools. Swede Hill – Austin TX – 78702
My grandparents, OW and Betty Signe Sandstrom lived at 1903 Red River in Swede Hill when my mother Edna Sandstrom was a little girl. That house is long gone and that particular western area is now part of the University of Texas campus area. The Swede Hill Historic District now is entirely east of IH 35 and includes East 13th Street, 14th Street, East 15th Street, Navasota, Olander Street and Waller Street. Beautiful Swede Hill Park has large shady native Live Oak trees. What is nice about Swede Hill is that you can easily walk or ride a bike to UT or Downtown Austin Texas. Not all homes in Swede Hill are historic in look or age. There are many newer homes built in historic styles and even some modern style homes. From some homes in Swede Hill you can see the Capital. The historic Oakwood Cemetery is nearby on East 14th Street
Tarrytown – Austin TX – 78703
The Tarrytown nighborhood is located in Austin MLS area 1B, east of MoPac in the Enfield area of Central Austin near UT and Downtown Austin Texas, hike and bike trail and Lake Austin. Tarrytown streets include Bonnie Road, Bowman Avenue, Cherry Lane, Escondido Cove, Exposition Boulevard, Forest Trail, Gilbert Street, Greenlee Drive, Hillview Road, Indian Trail, Keating Lane, Margranita Crescent, Maria Anna Road, Pecos Street, Plumcreek Circle, Rockmoor Avenue, Scenic Drive, Schulle Avenue, Stamford Lane, Townes Lane, Vista Lane, W. 35th Street, Wade Avenue, Windsor Road, Winsted Lane, Woodmont Avenue, 12th Street and more. There are renovated bungalows, Craftsman, French Country, Mid-Century Modern, traditional, contemporary homes and other architectural styles. New homebuilders in Tarrytown include Milestone, Brian Fuchs and others. Some Tarrytown homes are on Lake Austin and may have a boat slip and lift. Children living in Tarrytown attend Austin ISD’s Casis Elementary School, O Henry Middle School and Austin High or one of the many private schools in the area. Reed Park and Mayfield Park are two Tarrytown parks and the Lions Municipal Golf Course is nearby bordered by Enfield Road, Lake Austin Boulevard and Exposition.
