Old Enfield is a neighborhood in Central Austin TX in MLS area 1B with many Historic Homes near Enfield and MoPac. Old Enfield is located just north of Clarksville and west of UT and The Drag. Pease District Park and North Lamar Boulevard are to the east and MoPac Boulevard is to the west with Windsor Road to the north. The Old Enfield neighborhood is noted in A Field Guide to America’s Historic Neighborhoods and Museum Houses by Virginia and Lee McAlester. Once part of Texas Governor Elisha Pease’s 365 acre plantation, Enfield was subdivided in the early twentieth century. 6 Niles Road is the 1853 built Pease Plantation home. Across the street at 7 Niles Road is an Edwin Kreisle designed 1930 Tudor that was for sale in Austin MLS (March 2013). Among the prominent architectural styles in Enfield are Italian Renaissance and Spanish Eclectic homes many of which were designed by Dallas architect Hal Thompson but there are also American Colonial and others. Most Enfield homes were built from 1915 to the 1950’s but many are much more recently built. Old Enfield homes range in size from small cottages to large estates with over 7,000 square feet. Street names in Old Enfield include Hartford Road, Newfield Lane, Niles Road, Poquonock Road, Watchhill Road, Windsor Road and others.

Old Enfield neighborhood is located close to St. David’s Medical Center as well as Brackenridge Hospital and numerous medical clinics. Pease Park has great opportunities for recreation and entertainment such as the annual day long Eeyore’s Birthday Celebration which benefits Austin non-profit agencies and groups. The 50th Annual Eeyore’s Birthday Party is being held on April 27th, 2013 from 11:00am until dark in Pease Park. UT’s Texas Memorial Stadium is nearby to see UT football games. Whole Foods, Central Market and other stores are close by for groceries.

Children living in Old Enfield neighborhood attend Austin ISD or one of the many area private schools. Casis Elementary School, O’Henry Middle School and Austin High School are the Austin ISD public schools for the Old Enfield neighborhood. For Higher Education, The University of Texas and Austin Community College are nearby as well as St. Edward’s just further south in Austin.
